Ellis is 1-9 against Hoxie since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ellis Railroaders will head out on the road to square off against the Hoxie Indians at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Ellis came up short against Oakley and fell 48-38.
Despite the defeat, Ellis saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Aschenbrenner scored 15 points along with five steals. Aschenbrenner hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaren Frickey, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Hoxie pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plainville. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), Hoxie still had to take the loss.
Ellis' loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Hoxie, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Ellis might still be hurting after the 48-24 loss they got from Hoxie in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Ellis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
