Even though the Southwest Eagles scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, the Westwood Christian Warriors still came out on top. Westwood Christian snuck past Southwest with a 66-62 win.
Westwood Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Vilmenay led the charge by scoring 26 points along with 5 rebounds. The game was Vilmenay's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Agyeman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Westwood Christian's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Westwood Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Mater Brickell Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Carroll is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
