The Tuxedo Tornadoes couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. Their rough 59-33 loss to Mount Academy on Thursday might stick with them for a while.
Mount Academy can attribute much of their success to Jake Maendel, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Maendel has scored at least 25% of Mount Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dennis Hofer, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Tuxedo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mount Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuxedo will take on Livingston Manor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Webutuck at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th.
