Hoover dropped to 8-5 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 19-11 to the Kearny Komets. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Komets earlier this season, when they won 25-6.

Kimberly Soto was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aleyda Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
As for Kearny, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.
On Kearny's side, Makiyah Manning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Victoria Ortega was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lilly Spollen was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hoover is set to face off against their familiar foe La Jolla at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kearny will take on rival High Tech SD at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
