If the Coahulla Creek Colts were feeling good off their 68-42 takedown of the McMinn Central Chargers on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Coahulla Creek fell just short of North Murray by a score of 46-44. Coahulla Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Murray apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Coahulla Creek lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Chase Ward. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Ward's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Carter Quarles was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Coahulla Creek's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for North Murray, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Coahulla Creek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gordon Lee at 8:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Gordon Lee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. North Murray and Gilmer will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gilmer will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
