The Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders will venture away from home to take on the Mintz Christian Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Christ the Cornerstone Academy barely beat Sandhills Classical Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Defenders blew past the Lions 14-2 two weeks ago. The Defenders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jake Callahan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Inman was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Miken Concepcion was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Christ the Cornerstone Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandhills Classical Christian only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Mintz Christian Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty Christian Academy on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-5 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Mintz Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, their record now sits at 9-1-1.
Everything went Christ the Cornerstone Academy's way against Mintz Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Christ the Cornerstone Academy made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Defenders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
