Cigarroa is 0-10 against Palmview since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Toros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. Cigarroa has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mission hit Cigarroa with a eight-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Toros lost 13-3 to the Eagles.
Ximenna Zarate Mata made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palmview). They never let Martin get on the board and left with a 26-0 win on Tuesday. The Lobos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Maria Teresa Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan Reyes and Yailyn Trevino did most of the damage at the plate: Reyes went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Trevino went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Trevino has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Marina Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Palmview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in eight consecutive matchups.
Palmview's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Cigarroa, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Cigarroa suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Palmview in their previous meeting back in February. Will the Toros have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
