Football Game Preview: Round Mountain vs. Smith Valley

After two weeks on the road, Smith Valley is heading back home. On Saturday they take on Round Mountain at 1:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.

Don't be fooled by the insanely high score: we promise Mineral County and Smith Valley were playing football. Smith Valley ended up on the wrong side of a painful 52-74 walloping at Mineral County's hands.despite the defeat, Smith Valley saw an underclassman step up: Sophomore Marco Covian rushed for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns Covian has been a consistent playmaker for Smith Valley as this was the 5th good game in a row from him.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 18-73, which was the final score in Round Mountain's tilt against Tonopah last Friday. Round Mountain were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 6-58.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. We'll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
