It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Columbus East Olympians can now relate to. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday. Columbus East just can't catch a break and has now endured five losses in a row.
Columbus East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madelyn Poe, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Messiah Trapp, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whiteland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Dyer, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Sukhman Bains was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Columbus East has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Whiteland, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Columbus East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whiteland, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Franklin Community is coming into the matchup with five straight wins on the road, so Whiteland is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
