Edgewood Academy posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over Evangel Christian Academy. The win was just what Edgewood Academy needed coming off of a 60-26 loss in their prior game.
Edgewood Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Whitt led the charge by scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Whitt, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Hooper Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Macon-East Montgomery Academy 52-26. Given Hooper Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy is ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewood Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Hooper Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5.
Edgewood Academy strolled past Hooper Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 50-35. Does Edgewood Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hooper Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
