Northern Lakes recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northview, who took down 311th ranked Bowling Green, 19-14.
Napoleon moved up to 62 from 145 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northern Lakes. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of a 50-13 win over Springfield.
Napoleon's dynamic duo of David Yunker and Jordan Lauf proved tough for the Blue Devils to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Yunker threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns and Lauf had 86 yards receiving. Nick George helped Napoleon's passing attack out by catching four balls for 55 yards.
Steve Slocum provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Perrysburg beat Anthony Wayne. He completed nine passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 135 yards. Slocum's favorite target this week was Austin Lee, who caught three passes for 44 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Steve Duby and Andrew Schultz Maumee has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Duby leads the league in passing with 841 yards, while Schultz has rushed for 606 yards this season. Tory Strock's team's Lauf leads the league in receiving yards with 319 on 12 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on the Wildcats. At the moment, Maumee is in fourth, while Napoleon is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when John Boles's team and the Wildcats face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Panthers comes in having scored 165 this season, while Napoleon has scored 176. Maumee scored 27 points last week as it fell to Southview.
The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Springfield. Yunker in the win.
