The Slocomb Red Tops's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 63-29 loss at the hands of Ariton. Slocomb has struggled against Ariton recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Lawson Leger, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Ariton. Leger set a new season high mark in rebounds with six. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew McNair, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Slocomb has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Ariton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Slocomb will head out on the road to face off against Providence Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Slocomb likes a good challenge. As for Ariton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dale County at 1:00 p.m. Dale County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
