The El Primero Lobos pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of North Valley Baptist by a score of 63-60. El Primero has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
El Primero's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JOSH CHAVEZ, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. CHAVEZ is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of KEVIN CHIQUETE, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Dominic Lara was on fire for North Valley Baptist: he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lara has scored at least 25% of North Valley Baptist's points. Hudson Fanara was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
El Primero bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for North Valley Baptist, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
El Primero will head out on the road to face off against More at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully More focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 two weeks ago. As for North Valley Baptist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against DCP Alum Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
