The Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan Seahawks will head out on the road to face off against the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan is ranked 23rd, while Elk Point-Jefferson is ranked 14th).
After only 12 points in their last matchup, Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan made sure to put some points up on the board against McCook Central/Montrose two Fridays ago. Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan blew past McCook Central/Montrose, posting a 50-6 victory at home.
Drake Gustafson was a one-man wrecking crew for Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan as he rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 82 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Kean Stevenson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jason Zeeb and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Elk Point-Jefferson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 24-14 victory over Tri-Valley.
Their wins bumped Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan to 5-2 and Elk Point-Jefferson to 6-1.
Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan ended up a good deal behind Elk Point-Jefferson in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, losing 28-14. Can Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
