Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Central

Central came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Marysville Monarchs. Considering the Red Devils have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Allyson Supan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Khloe Broadwater and Gerritt Griggs did most of the damage at the plate: Broadwater went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Griggs scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Broadwater has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Savannah Sevier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 22-3.

Central has already played their next contest, a 17-1 win against Dodgeville on the 26th. As for Marysville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Teays Valley at 5:15 p.m. on April 4.
