Brandeis is 2-8 against Johnson since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Brandeis Broncos will be home for the holidays to greet the Johnson Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Brandeis is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Johnson in Texas (Brandeis is ranked 301st, while Johnson is ranked 617th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-35, which was the final score in Brandeis' tilt against Madison on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brandeis has scored all season.
Defeat or not, Brandeis got some senior leadership from Ryan Espinosa who scored 13 points and Trevor Short who scored six points along with 12 rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Johnson was able to grind out a solid victory over SA Roosevelt on Tuesday, taking the game 46-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Johnson.
Brandeis has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Brandeis and Johnson were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but Brandeis came up empty-handed after a 43-42 defeat. Can Brandeis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
