St. Charles East is 9-1 against Geneva since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Fighting Saints will square off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Geneva took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Charles East, who comes in off a win.
St. Charles East's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Central. Considering the Fighting Saints have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Kyli Dunn, who gave up just a hit to keep Central off the board. Dunn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lexi Majkszak and Caleigh Higgins did most of the damage at the plate: Majkszak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Higgins went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Majkszak a new career-high. Leighton Colley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
St. Charles East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Geneva was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 12-7 to Wheaton North.
Clara Lyons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Bultmann, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
St. Charles East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-20.
St. Charles East took their win against Geneva in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
