It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hackleburg Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 33-18. Winning may never get old, but Hackleburg sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Blaise Vickery was on fire: he rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt.
Valley Head's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tytan Blevins, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Blevins has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Bain, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Hackleburg's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points per game. As for Valley Head, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Hackleburg will face off against Coosa Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Coosa Christian: 3.8, Hackleburg: 11.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Valley Head does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
