The Cary Christian Knights will challenge the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cary Christian 2.4, Wake Christian Academy 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Cary Christian barely beat St. David's the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Cary Christian put the hurt on St. David's with a sharp 12-1 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Jacob Reeves and Samuel Snyder made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Reeves pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Snyder tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reeves has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reeves scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Snyder scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Reeves has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cary Christian got a big performance out of Reed Harvey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dearolf, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Cary Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wake Christian Academy entered their tilt with John Paul II Catholic on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Saints.
Gavin Pacileo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Jeffrey Newsome was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Cary Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Wake Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cary Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wake Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
