Hayfield and the Majors are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Hayfield Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mount Vernon Majors at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Hayfield is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Majors in Virginia (the Hawks are ranked 35th, while the Majors are ranked 133rd).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Hayfield, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to the Eagles. It was the first time this season that Hayfield let down their fans at home.
Meanwhile, Mount Vernon strolled past the Jaguars with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 57-43.
Hayfield's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4. As for Mount Vernon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Hayfield skirted past the Majors 58-56 when the teams last played back in January. Will Hayfield repeat their success, or do the Majors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
