Valor Preparatory Academy hasn't had much luck against Mountain Island Charter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Mountain Island Charter Raptors at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Valor Preparatory Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Valor Preparatory Academy finally turned things around against Charlotte Lab School on Monday. They claimed a resounding 83-45 win over the Lions. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-19.
Bishop Withershpoon was his usual excellent self, going 14 for 19 on his way to 32 points and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Valor Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Omarion Dawkins, who posted nine points, to go along with seven assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Island Charter). They walked away with an 82-74 victory over Valor Preparatory Academy on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.
Mountain Island Charter found their leader in sophomore Christan Jones, who went 17 of 23 on his way to 45 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Jordan, who put up ten points and six assists.
Mountain Island Charter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Valor Preparatory Academy and Mountain Island Charter are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Valor Preparatory Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63 points per game. However, it's not like Mountain Island Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 68 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
