A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Walter Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
Last Monday, Walter Johnson came up short against Whitman and fell 54-43. The Wildcats have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Naamiah Corke, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Kendall Alexander was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine steals and five boards.
Even though they lost, Walter Johnson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Quince Orchard lost to Clarksburg on the road by a 50-36 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Coyotes are ranked 43rd).
Walter Johnson will have to keep a close watch on Evelyn Steele and Ayanna Anspach, a pair of players who had a big impact on Quince Orchard's prior game. Steele almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine blocks, while Anspach earned 12 points and five rebounds. Steele has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Richardson, who scored four points.
Quince Orchard now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Walter Johnson, their record is now 15-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Walter Johnson has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 38.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Quince Orchard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Walter Johnson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Quince Orchard in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walter Johnson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
