Newberg hasn't had much luck against Sherwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Bowmen at 7:00 p.m. Newberg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Sherwood likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Newberg came up short against Glencoe and fell 42-34.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Parker Sellner, who threw for 114 yards and four TDs. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Owen Kubin was in the mix as well, providing Newberg with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sherwood waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 41-14 win over the Falcons. The Bowmen pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.
Sherwood found their leader in sophomore Jayden Wallace, who rushed for 69 yards and three scores. Kai Boatsman was another key signal caller, throwing for 158 yards and a pair of TDs.
Sherwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
One reason for the win was Sherwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Isaac Bean and Levi Klostreich, who racked up five sacks between them. Bean also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.
Sherwood's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Newberg, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.
Newberg was dealt a bruising 53-14 defeat at the hands of Sherwood when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Wilson Medina (who rushed for 241 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
