In what's become a running theme this season, the St. Michael the Archangel Warriors gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Randolph-Macon Academy 76-40 at home. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 52 points.
It was another big night for Anjalia Bryant, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 44 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaye Martinez, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 20 rebounds, and ten blocks.
Randolph-Macon Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Berkley Bennett, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Kay Perry, who scored eight points.
St. Michael the Archangel pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael the Archangel will challenge the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Randolph-Macon Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the None at 4:00 p.m. on February 1st. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Foxcroft: 26, the Yellow Jackets: 27.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
