It was a good run, but the Academy for Innovative Education Aviators unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 58-35 loss at the hands of Mater Academy Bay.
When it comes to explaining why Academy for Innovative Education lost, one person who can't be blamed is Samantha Ayerdis. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Ayerdis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexa Torres, who scored 11 points.
Academy for Innovative Education's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Mater Academy Bay, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy for Innovative Education will square off against Downtown Doral at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mater Academy Bay's road trip will continue as they head out to face Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. on January 11th.
