The Goshen Warriors had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-53 win over Wilmington. Given Goshen's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Wilmington is ranked 600th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caden Zeinner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 39 points along with two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Goshen's points. Another player making a difference was Bray Settelmayer, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Goshen's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Wilmington, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Goshen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-49 victory vs. New Richmond on the 10th. Wilmington will head out on the road to square off against Batavia at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmington is coming into the match with five straight losses on the road, meaning Batavia will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
