The St. John Woodchucks pushed their score all the way to 79 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 80-79 to Dunseith. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (71), St. John still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, St. John still got an impressive performance from Cashmyn Belgarde, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Belgarde has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Parisien, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
St. John has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Dunseith, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John will take on North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dunseith, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Prairie/Max at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
