The Vallivue Falcons will square off against the Columbia Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Friday, Vallivue came up short against Nampa and fell 7-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia). Everything went their way against Caldwell on Friday as they made off with a 21-7 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
James Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Logan Velasquez and Corbin Bolander did most of the damage at the plate: Velasquez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Bolander went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Bolander has become a key player for Columbia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus DeLeon, who went 2-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .580. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Columbia and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Vallivue, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7.
Vallivue got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Columbia by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
