Baseball Recap: Overhills Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Overhills had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 13-9 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Pine Forest Trojans. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-3 victory on April 10th.

Jordan Frink made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Houston Poole, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Overhills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

Overhills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest only posted a batting average of .154.

As for Pine Forest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Pine Forest's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Pinero, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Overhills has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Terry Sanford on the 1st. As for Pine Forest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Wakefield on the 6th.
