Newport - Bellevue is 0-10 against Mount Si since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Newport - Bellevue Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Si Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Newport - Bellevue has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Mount Si will arrive with eight straight wins.
Newport - Bellevue suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-50 walloping at the hands of Issaquah. While losing is never fun, Newport - Bellevue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Issaquah is ranked 104th).
Despite the loss, Newport - Bellevue got a solid performance out of Jace Rainey, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42% of Newport - Bellevue's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Seng, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Mount Si stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Silas 79-39 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Mount Si has posted since December 16, 2023.
Newport - Bellevue's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-16. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Mount Si, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Newport - Bellevue took a serious blow against Mount Si in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 74-29. Can Newport - Bellevue avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
