The Waterbury Career Academy Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Woodland Regional Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Waterbury Career Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Waterbury Career Academy earned a 51-42 victory over Wolcott. The victory was just what Waterbury Career Academy needed coming off of a 73-27 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Janele Lawrence, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malinna Figueroa, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Woodland Regional unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 75-45 loss at the hands of Holy Cross. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Woodland Regional has suffered against Holy Cross since January 19, 2016.
Waterbury Career Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Woodland Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Waterbury Career Academy came up short against Woodland Regional in their previous meeting back in January of 2017, falling 55-47. Can Waterbury Career Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
