Baseball Recap: North Lenoir Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

North Lenoir entered their tilt with C.B. Aycock on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Golden Falcons. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Garrett Byrd made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blayden Pridgen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Ethan Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

North Lenoir pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for C.B. Smithfield-Selma has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.45 runs per game on average), something C.B. Aycock will no doubt try to take advantage of.
