Lincolnton won the last time they faced West Lincoln and Akira Connor did her part to make sure it happened again. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Rebels on Thursday thanks in part to Connor, who had 32 digs. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 13 times she's played.
While Lincolnton won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Burns waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Golden Lions as they made off with a 3-0 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 10, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-16, 25-8.
Lincolnton better keep an eye on Jordan Walker. She was instrumental in Burns' win, getting seven digs and two aces.
Burns was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.
Lincolnton's record is now 12-8. As for Burns, their record now sits at 19-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Lincolnton hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 12.4 blocks per game. It's a different story for Burns, though, as they've been averaging only 1.5 blocks. Given Lincolnton's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lincolnton took their victory against Burns in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
