Marple Newtown is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Haverford is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fightin' Tigers will host the Fords at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Marple Newtown beats Haverford with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Fightin' Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand Lower Merion a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday.
Marple Newtown got a great performance from Ally Snyder as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Snyder has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaya Dezzi, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Collins, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Haverford won against Ridley on Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Fords didn't even let Central Bucks East on the board, marking the Fords' second-straight 10-0 shutout.
Ali Daly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Daly was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brenna Carfrey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Lucy Ardizzi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Haverford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Bucks East only posted an OBP of .167.
Haverford is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Marple Newtown, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Marple Newtown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Haverford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Marple Newtown couldn't quite finish off Haverford when the teams last played back in April and fell 2-0. Will the Fightin' Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
