Augustine Prep blew Milwaukee Riverside out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Milwaukee Riverside got their revenge. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 11-9.
Meanwhile, Dominican came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Catholic Central on Saturday as they made off with a 17-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Joseph Cabral made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Dominican is 3-1 when Cabral allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Cabral was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jimmy Weiler was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Dominican: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Xavier Parlier, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dominican's record is now 7-11. As for Augustine Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Augustine Prep might still be hurting after the 15-7 defeat they got from Dominican when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
