It was a good run, but the Franklin Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting East Henderson an easy 70-48 win. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Franklin has scored all season.
Franklin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacob Gibson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gibson has scored all season. Max Mcclure was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Caiden Brewer was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds for East Henderson. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brewer has scored at least 25% of East Henderson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Evans, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Franklin's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-1. As for East Henderson, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Franklin will play host again and welcome Tuscola, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscola is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for East Henderson, they will head out on the road to face off against West Henderson at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jackson Lyda and Brewer.
