The St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays will square off against the Teurlings Catholic Rebels at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
St. Edmund is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand St. Martinville a 20-0 shutout on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Blue Jays considering their two-run performance the game before.

Ian Rider made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Edmund is 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 10-12 otherwise. Rider was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Marcus Gradney Jr and Lannie Reed did most of the damage at the plate: Gradney Jr scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Reed scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. St. Edmund is undefeated when Gradney Jr posts two or more stolen bases, but 13-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was David Evans, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
St. Edmund always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Teurlings Catholic came tearing into Friday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Golden Tors with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Teurlings Catholic let Brennen Storms and Jack Purser run wild. Storms went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Purser went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Storms has posted since back in February. Ryan Berard was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Teurlings Catholic's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Edmund, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record this season.
