Dos Palos has gone a perfect 10-0 against Firebaugh recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Broncos will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dos Palos has four straight victories, Firebaugh has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Dos Palos proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 13) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Coalinga. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Broncos have posted since March 28th.
Breann Raney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dos Palos' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Liliana DelaRosa, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Carly Brinkley was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Firebaugh came up short against Avenal on Tuesday, falling 12-3.
Lauren Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bethany Mendoza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one triple.
Dos Palos' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Firebaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.
Everything went Dos Palos' way against Firebaugh in their previous meeting back in April, as Dos Palos made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
