Northland is 0-10 against Whetstone since May of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vikings will face off against the Braves at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Northland not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14, 2025 (when they won 34-14). They put the hurt on Linden-McKinley with a sharp 16-2 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lizzie DuFault made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. DuFault was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.6 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Tadyn Roddy was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. Roddy is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameliah Johnson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Northland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Whetstone got themselves on the board against Columbus International on Monday, but Columbus International never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Lions. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Gabby Millane was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Millane was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Agnes Mullen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Zella Ebert was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Whetstone's record now sits at 6-4. As for Northland, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .588. However, it's not like Whetstone struggles in that department as they've averaged .567. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northland might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Whetstone when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
