The Holdrege Dusters scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 77-61 win over Southern Valley. The win was familiar territory for Holdrege who now have four in a row.
It was another big night for Garret Johnson, who scored 25 points along with three steals and two blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Wyatt Pfeifer was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tate Weatherwax, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weatherwax has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Hamilton, who scored 20 points.
Holdrege now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Southern Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holdrege will take on Kearney Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Kearney Catholic is ranked 105th, while Holdrege is ranked 89th). As for Southern Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Arapahoe at 6:30 p.m.
