The Yuma Criminals will challenge the Canyon View Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Yuma sitting on eight straight wins and Canyon View on seven.
Yuma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Coronado on Wednesday. With that victory, the Criminals brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Juan Ayala was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ayala was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Lujan, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Alonzo Fierro also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Yuma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Canyon View made easy work of Desert Edge on Thursday and carried off a 15-1 win. Considering the Jaguars have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon Hood tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ricardo Yuriar was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Rolando Valles, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Yuma pushed their record up to 12-4-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon View, their record is now 18-4.
Yuma's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Criminals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canyon View, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Yuma continue to outrun the ball?
