Given Damascus' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Quince Orchard is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Quince Orchard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evelyn Steele. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Damascus' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Quince Orchard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Damascus will take on Paint Branch at TBD on Friday. As for Quince Orchard, they will head out on the road to face off against Blake at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
