South Beloit had won eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped up to 5-3 to make it nine. They put the hurt on the Harvest-Westminster Warriors with a sharp 25-9 win. The result was nothing new for the Sobos, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
South Beloit got a massive performance out of Alivia Churchill, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Churchill continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Windsor, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI and three runs.
South Beloit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive matchups.
As for Harvest-Westminster, they now have a losing record of 3-4. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with South Beloit: they've now lost six in a row.
On Harvest-Westminster's side, Madelin Basak and Leslie Uriostegui stepped up to the plate in a big way. Coming up, South Beloit will head out on the road to challenge Milledgeville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
