Jonathan Newton Goes Supernova in the Covenant Win
The Covenant picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Jonathan Newton. Newton did his part (and then some), rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 46 yards and a touchdown for the 'W'. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (5.0 for loss).
If history really does repeat itself, Newton might just drop another big game when he faces off against Greenbrier Christian Academy on Saturday. Newton rushed for 433 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 19.7 yards per carry the last time he and the Gators duked it out back in October of 2023.

DJ Caban continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his fourth-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 115 rushing yards. He rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes.
Caban must have Chincoteague's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Caban saw the Ponies), he rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Hudson Reese was instrumental in extending The Covenant's winning streak to six on Friday. Reese picked up a sack and made two total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making two total tackles.
