The Western Michigan Christian Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Covenant Christian Chargers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Western Michigan Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Western Michigan Christian came out on top against Whitehall on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Warriors took their game against the Vikings 10-5.
Alex Wagenmaker made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, Nathan Clausing was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Caleb McKay was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Western Michigan Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.
Allendale hit Covenant Christian with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 8-6. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Easton Schimmel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Western Michigan Christian pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Covenant Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Western Michigan Christian couldn't quite get it done against Covenant Christian in their previous meeting last Tuesday as they fell 9-5. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
