The Classical Academy Titans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Palmer Ridge Bears at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday.
The Classical Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Pueblo South 67-15 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-5.
The Classical Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelsey Peterson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 steals. Ashlyn Delaney was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Palmer Ridge proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Falcon by a score of 48-32 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). The win was all the more spectacular given Palmer Ridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Falcon is ranked 27th).
Among those leading the charge was Taylor Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Palmer Ridge's points. Another player making a difference was Delanie Mcmullen, who scored 15 points.
The losses dropped The Classical Academy to 4-1 and Pueblo South to 1-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: The Classical Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 34% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Palmer Ridge, though, as they've only nailed 28.8% of theirs this season. Given The Classical Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Palmer Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap.
