The Aletheia Christian Academy Lions will challenge the Laurel Hill Hoboes at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aletheia Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Laurel Hill will be coming in after a loss.
Aletheia Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on February 4th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. Everything went their way against Pensacola as Aletheia Christian Academy made off with a 13-7 victory.
Josiah Thurmond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Thurmond was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Brady Carlson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Darius Dunmiles was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Laurel Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against L.E.A.D. Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 8-7. The Hoboes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Aletheia Christian Academy, Laurel Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Cooper Degraaf. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit, allowed only an earned run while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. Degraaf was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Caden Taylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sean Smiley, who scored two runs and stole three bases.
Even though they lost, Laurel Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as L.E.A.D. Academy onlymanaged three hits.
Aletheia Christian Academy's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Laurel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.
Aletheia Christian Academy skirted past Laurel Hill 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Aletheia Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Laurel Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
