It was a good run, but the Auburn Maroons unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rome Free Academy. Auburn was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rome Free Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Leading Rome Free Academy to victory were Haylee Bostwick and Amiyah Ferebee. Bostwick scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Ferebee dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Bostwick's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alana Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Auburn's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Rome Free Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn and Liverpool will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rome Free Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Henninger at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th.
