Minatare lost to Arthur County the last time the two teams met, but they didn't allow Arthur County the same satisfaction this time around. Everything came up roses for Minatare against Arthur County on Friday as the team secured a 96-56 victory. Yes, you read that final score correctly. Yes, this was football.
The contest started off well for Minatare, whose offense put up 68 first-half points. Arthur County wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 38 to make it 68-38 heading into the break. Minatare's offense just added to that total in the second half en route to their big win.
Among those leading the charge for Minatare was junior Kaleb Gonzales, who picked up 120 yards on the ground and accumulated 104 passing yards. In fact, with 12 tackles Gonzales was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Ephroen Lovato, who racked up 11 tackles.
Next week Minatare take on Potter-Dix . Potter-Dix are limping into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Arthur County, they will face off against Crawford. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
