The Life Waxahachie Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Alvarado at home and fell 70-41. Life Waxahachie was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.
Life Waxahachie's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Kordell Berry, who rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Berry really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Smith, who picked up 174 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cardea Collier was on fire for Alvarado: he rushed for 206 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Demarcus Belton was another key contributor, picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Life Waxahachie's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Alvarado, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Life Waxahachie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Alvarado will square off against Kennedale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedale will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
